These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of cohort.run ("Service", "we", "us"). By registering for or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
You must be at least 18 years old to create a teacher account. By registering, you confirm that you are 18 or older and have the legal capacity to enter into this agreement.
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials. You agree to notify us immediately at support@cohort.run if you suspect unauthorised access to your account. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
cohort.run provides a live lesson and assessment platform for educators. Features include lesson creation, live student sessions, cohort management, AI-assisted content tools, and form-based assessments. We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any feature at any time with reasonable notice where practicable.
You agree not to:
As a teacher, you act as a data controller for any student personal data you enter into the platform (names, IDs, responses). You are responsible for:
cohort.run processes student data on your behalf as a data processor. Our Privacy Policy describes the technical and organisational measures we apply.
You retain ownership of lesson content, questions, and materials you create. By uploading content, you grant cohort.run a limited, non-exclusive licence to host and display it solely to provide the Service to you. We do not claim ownership of your content.
Free trial. New accounts start with a 30-day free trial of Pro. No payment details are needed to start the trial. There is no permanent free plan: when the trial ends, you can still sign in and access your data, but you cannot start live sessions or create new forms until you subscribe. Forms you have already shared keep accepting responses for 30 days after your trial, subscription or Large Event Pass ends, and you can still score and review them. After that they are closed to new responses until you subscribe again, when they reopen automatically. Your existing responses and reports are not deleted.
Pro subscription. Pro costs $15 per month (USD), billed monthly in advance through PayPal. Pro includes up to 50 enrolled students per cohort, one live session at a time, and up to 50 students connected to a live session at once. We do not offer annual billing. By subscribing you authorise PayPal to charge your chosen payment method each month until you cancel. Charges appear as COHORT.RUN, and we email a receipt for every charge.
Cancelling. You can cancel at any time from the Account page. You keep Pro until the end of the period you have paid for, and you will not be charged again.
Capacity limits. When a live session reaches its connection limit, new students are shown a "class is full" message. Students who are already connected are never disconnected, and a reload or second tab does not use an additional place. Your own teacher, remote and TA connections do not count towards the student limit.
Large Event Pass. A Large Event Pass is a one-off purchase of $50 (USD). You can buy one with or without a Pro subscription. Once you activate it, it raises your live session limit to 200 connected students for 24 hours, and includes up to 5 additional TA connections that do not count towards the 200. If you do not have Pro or a free trial, the pass also lets you run live sessions during its 24-hour window; it does not include Pro features beyond that window. The 24-hour window starts when you activate the pass, not when you buy it. A pass can also be purchased by invoice: contact us through the Account page.
Offers. From time to time we may offer introductory pricing, such as free months of Pro for Large Event Pass customers. An offer is limited to one claim per account and per PayPal account, ends on the date stated in the offer, and is available only if you are not already subscribed to Pro. After any free period, the normal monthly price applies until you cancel.
Records. When you subscribe or buy a pass we record that you accepted these Terms, with the date, time and version.
Refunds. Refunds are available within 14 days of a charge, as set out in our Refund Policy. Otherwise fees are non-refundable.
Payment disputes. If you have a billing problem, please contact support@cohort.run first so we can fix it or refund you. If a payment is disputed or charged back with PayPal or your bank, we may suspend the account and its access immediately while the dispute is resolved, and we may prevent the associated email address and PayPal account from being used to register or start another trial.
You may cancel your account at any time from your account settings or by emailing support@cohort.run. We may suspend or terminate your account if you breach these Terms, with or without notice depending on the severity of the breach. On termination, your data will be deleted in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose or uninterrupted availability. We do not warrant that AI-generated content is accurate, complete, or suitable for any educational purpose.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, cohort.run's total liability for any claim arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages.
Nothing in these Terms excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, except where mandatory local consumer law provides otherwise.
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify registered teachers by email of material changes at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
